Canal Stenosis

Narrowing of the spinal canal. Symptoms are typically dynamic — worse with standing and walking, eased by sitting or bending forward.

Canal stenosis refers to the narrowing of the spinal canal, which houses the spinal cord and nerve roots.

This narrowing can compress the spinal cord or nerves, leading to symptoms such as pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, or difficulty walking, particularly in the back, neck, or legs.

It is commonly caused by age-related changes, such as osteoarthritis, thickened ligaments, herniated discs, or bone spurs. In some cases, congenital conditions or trauma may also contribute.

Treatment options range from physical therapy and medications to epidural injections or surgery, depending on the severity of symptoms

A spine consultation begins with a clinical examination and — usually — a review of recent imaging. WhatsApp is the fastest way to enquire; for a same-day slot, calling the OPD chamber during its listed hours is best.
